Fundraisers can be a lot of fun. In order to start and maintain a SADD Chapter, you will need some type of funds. It is a great feeling when you have the opportunity to increase awareness, promote the mission of SADD, and help others out. When thinking of a fundraiser, you need to make sure that there are plenty of people to assist you with the process.

Examples:

September - Football Games, Dances, Candy, Walk-a-thon and donate some of the funds to a local EMS crew (great media recognition), Portable Breath Test machines for local Police Departments.

October - Halloween Dance, Calling Cards for Homecoming, Make Buttons with stickers that indicate "I've Got Better Things to Do Than Drugs", Dress down day for faculty, Sell Red Ribbons or Stickers

November - Holiday rest stop (sell coffee, soda, cookies), Silent auction (write prominent actors, sports players, etc. for items to auction), Christmas wrapping paper through Current Inc.

December - Sell lights or ribbons for the Tree of Life.

Following are activities that SADD Chapters have held and may give some ideas to those Chapters who are new to SADD or just looking for new and creative ideas to get students involved. If your school has conducted a successful event or is going to be involved in an event, please send it to the SADD Office so we may include it on this page.

Central Dauphin High School: Central Dauphin High Students Against Destructive Decisions sponsored its second Coffee House Cafe recently. This event was held at a local church and featured specialty coffees, frozen drinks, hot chocolate, homemade snacks, live entertainment, music, karaoke, board games, and video games on a big screen TV. The cost for the event was $3.00 per person; $2.00 for active members of SADD.

Harmony High School: The members of Harmony High School's SADD Club recently sponsored a community Family Fun Night. Held in the school's gymnasium, children from throughout the community were given the opportunity to participate in fun and games which included: miniature golf, hockey, beanbag toss, football throw and a hoop shoot. Prizes were also awarded. Larger prizes were also raffled off randomly throughout the evening. Face painting was also offered along with refreshments.

Lansdale Catholic High School: Members of Lansdale Catholic Students Against Destructive Decisions recently deposited two 5-gallon jugs of aluminum can tabs at the Ronald McDonald House in University City, Philadelphia. The SADD members had collected the tabs from students since August.

Mount Union Area High School: Mount Union's SADD club just held it's First Annual Prom Fashion Show at their high school auditorium. Aside from being able to view many of this year's best gowns and tuxedos on loan from local bridal stores, there were door prizes as well as refreshments. All parents, students and community members were invited to attend.

Portage Area High School: On Friday mornings at the Portage Area Elementary School, PAHS SADD sets up "Our Store" which is set up in the auditorium lobby.  "Our Store" has numerous items available for sale that range from a nickel to a dollar. Proceeds from "Our Store" will be used to help pay for SADD Club activities, including the Alcohol-free After Prom. The SADD Club also plans to pay for the Saltworks Theatre to present two performances for grades K-12.  The Club would like to thank the elementary school students, the parents and the teachers for supporting "Our Store".
