Hello SADD
Advisors!
We're hearing about and seeing a lot of
exciting activity among our chapters. I am so
glad that you include us by sending
photos, stories, etc. Please continue
to communicate with us so we can share your
successes statewide!
I encourage you
to increase activity and
remain very vocal with your positive
peer messages as we approach prom and graduation
season. Let our office know if there is
anything we can do to assist you.
As many of you know we are gearing up
to launch a new campaign focused on underage
DUI. We will have a mini launch this
spring with a full launch this fall! In
conjunction with this campaign we conducted our
first focus group on the campaign last week
at Greater Latrobe Senior High School. I want to
thank the administration and Acacia Houck for
allowing us to be involved with their
students. In addition to the focus group
I had the opportunity to see the amazing
public service announcements the students in
Mrs. Houck's Communications class prepared on
DUI. The PSA's are amazing and I look
forward to sharing their work with
everyone.
As always, THANK YOU for your hard
work and commitment to SADD, your students,
school, and community. I look forward
to hearing, seeing and sharing your successes
this spring!

North Allegheny High School hosted the Student Council
District Leadership Conference in
February. To produce a lively and
welcoming atmosphere for the hundreds of
visiting students, a classroom door decorating
contest was held. North Allegheny's SADD
won top prize!
Pictured are

in SADD.
Lenape
Tech SADD (Armstrong County) collected 1,162
food items that they donated to a local food
bank. The donation was made in honor of
Emily Blystone. Emily was Lenape Tech's
SADD President and tragically died in a motor
vehicle crash shortly into her senior
year. Way to go Lenape
SADD!!!

Northwestern High
School SADD (Sullivan County) produced a
60-second public service announcement.
This audio broadcast PSA is a great example of
what chapters can do to promote their message
and initiatives throughout the community.
Job well done Northwestern HS SADD!!!

The PA SADD
Advisor's Support Center is currently under
construction, but should be up and
running by May 2009. The
site will serve as a meeting
place for our SADD advisors, allowing
you to share ideas and lend support to one
another.
As soon as it is finished and
available for access, you will
be notified with instructions on how to
sign-up to begin using, what we believe will
be, an extremely useful tool in
establishing and sustaining a successful SADD
Chapter.

PARENTS WHO HOST, LOSE THE
MOST |
ATTENTION DAUPHIN COUNTY CHAPTERS
You will soon be receiving a
sampling of information cards and posters
to distribute in your community as part of a
statewide effort by PA SADD to get the word out
to parents (and anyone over 21) that it is
illegal to provide or purchase alcohol for
anyone under the age of 21 years. "Parents
Who Host, Lose the Most" is a campaign designed
to heighten awareness particularly over the
prom/graduation season.
If you are in
another county and would like more
information on this program please contact Barb
Zortman at bzortman@padui.org.
